The Australian National Groundwater Data Transfer Standard

6.ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS

Many custodians of groundwater data in Australia released descriptions of their databases to help in the compilation of these standards. This not only involved contributions from the State and Territory government representatives on the Working Group on National Groundwater Data Standards (Appendix A), but others including:

  • Don Bennett from Agriculture WA, who is involved with the AgBores database;
  • Xianwen Yu (WA Water & Rivers Commission) and Sam Nelson (Greenbase Consulting) who are involved with the SiteLegaci database; and
  • Geoff Elder, who is responsible for the groundwater database at the Centre for Land Protection and Research, Bendigo.

Valuable discussions with numerous staff from the New South Wales Department of Land and Water Conservation, Northern Territory Department of Lands Planning and Environment, Queensland Department of Natural Resources, Primary Industries and Resources South Australia, Mineral Resources Tasmania, Western Australia Water and Rivers Commission, the Bureau of Rural Sciences (BRS), the Australian Geological Survey Organisation (AGSO) and CSIRO greatly added to the content of these standards. In addition, a draft version of the standards were made available in the public domain for comment, and we thank all of the respondents for their feedback.

The drafting of the figures for this document was coordinated by Martyn Moffatt (AGSO) while Gregg Berry (BRS) organising final publication and editing. The associated web site for these data standards was largely brought about by the efforts of Bob Georgeson, Suzette Burdeu and Lynette Thompson of BRS.

The Data Structures for Core Groundwater Data in Australia project was made possible by funding from the representative agencies on the National Groundwater Committee as well as from the National Landcare Program.
