4.1 Unique Identifier for a Groundwater Feature

To ensure that groundwater_features are uniquely defined nationally, the identifier used in the State or Territory databases (eg. registered bore number) is to be used and preceded by a single-character code representing the State or Territory.

This convention is used for the feature_identifier and event_feature_identifier attributes. Table 4.1 outlines the codes to be prefixed to the registered identifier for the groundwater_feature, based on the state or territory that the feature is located in.

Examples

  • NGW036306 is a groundwater work registered in New South Wales.
  • Q89181 is a registered groundwater facility in Queensland.
  • V47250 is a bore registered in Victoria.
